Random Stuff

I got a job at the school. It's in the take home reading library and I only work 2 hours a day. For most people 2 hours a day is nothing, but it's been several years since I have been employed and this little 2 hour a day job has totally thrown me off my routine. I used to work 8+ hours every day and a lot of weekends too, with 4 children, and I seemed to handle that a lot better than this 2 hour a day job.

I got a new calling. I am now 2nd Counselor in the Stake YW Presidency. Maybe my calling and my job are the reason I feel like there isn't enough time in the day. I love serving in YW Organization, the girls in this stake are my very favorite, and I love the women that I work with, but man this calling is a major time sucker.

Every day at work, Kylee will bring her class books to me and come in and give me a big hug. I think it is so cute, however, since Kylee knows where I am, she also comes to my "office" to tell me about every physical ailment she has. Seriously the other day I thought I was in an episode of Napoleon Dynamite. She came down asking me for some chap stick, when I told her I didn't have any she said "Mom, my lips hurt real bad". I told her to go to the office and get some from the Nurse. Strange how real life and movies can be similar.

The other downside with Kylee knowing I'm at the school everyday is that she'll tell me when her teacher needs help. A few weeks ago, Kylee told me that her teacher needed some help with the Halloween party. Great, I love helping at class parties. I went down to talk to Miss Green, and it turns out she doesn't have a Room Mother this year so she was a little concerned about the party. Guess who her Room Mother is now? Yep, me.

Since I am now Miss Greens Room Mother we had a class Halloween party on Friday. It actually worked out great. Kyle volunteered to be checked out of school and come help, and I decided that would be a great idea. As soon as Kyle walked into the classroom, a boy in the class turned to Kyle and said "hey, I bet you can pick me up" to which Kyle replied "probably, but not right now, maybe later". I don't think Kyle tried to pick him up, but it made me laugh. They were so excited to see a 6 foot 2 inch teenage boy at their class party.

Our neighborhood does a block party every Halloween where everyone in the neighborhood gathers to a central location and sets up chairs, or cars and gives out candy. The Bishopric always supplies doughnuts, hot chocolate and apple cider. This has grown in the last few years, many people set up their own recipes and we now have varieties of cookies, scones, nachos, hot dogs, chili, etc. Once Kylee and Samantha were done trick-or-treating, we came home and handed out a little candy to the few kids that came around the neighborhood. About 7 I got a text from Melissa saying that she was very impressive and had eaten 14 million twix bars...I texted her back saying that her 14 million twix bars were impressive, but that I had eaten 2 plates of nachos, 1 doughnut, 1 hot dog, 1 scone, and 1 sugar cookie... we both decided that I had won that contest.
